The first week of a no-spend challenge is the best! And a major city always offers lots of free activities and/or things to do for recreation. Along with the things above, I also…

1. Scored a Great Deal on Vegetables

I’ve mentioned time and again that shopping at the International markets for veggies is a significant money-hack. I scored a ton of veggies for $25. Of course, I forgot my rolling cart to help carry it all home. I charged on with the bag in my hands and Popeye’d it home. It was a heavy load.

2. Foraged the Kitchen for a Wholesome Lunch

With all those veggies, it means they must be eaten in a timely manner if not preserved. I cooked up some sweet potatoes, rice pilaf, and added a side of blueberries and red snack peppers for a perfect lunch at home. Healthy, too!

3. Friday was Still Delicious

Talk about me and my love for #lazycooking. But Fridays, the focus is on “party food”. Kick off the work shoes and let’s consume a hamburger, pizza or something of the like. This was no exception during the start of my no-spend challenge. The freezer holds a relish of great things like hamburger patties.

I balanced the plate with some veggies. 😊

4. Averaging 6,000/steps per day

I am trying to be healthy. So, I’ve started walking every other day for cardio’s sake. But with this no-spend challenge going on, I also wanted to make sure I was getting out of the house to venture and explore. Fortunately, I’ve been hitting up some great new places to me and hitting an average of 6,000 steps per day. Go, health!

5. Created a Calendar to Track my Low-Spend, No-Spend Days

Let’s see if I can embrace the no-spend, low-spend challenge for a couple months to meet a financial goal. It’s easy this week because I have enough goods to hold me over. It’s the following week’s that may get tough.

And if the challenge impedes on my mental health, then I will lower my standards on this challenge and extend the scope.
