Busting a budget as a consistent budgeter usually means temporary inconvenience and not a catastrophe.

It happened. It happens! Watch below as I tell you in 60 seconds how I busted my budget.

I know I mentioned that it strips all the fun away from this next payday, but here is what else I had to do to accommodate the ‘destruction’ of my spendy self:

I also had to adjust my next budget by:

  • Putting my streaming account on hold until next paycheck. It means I don’t get to finish Disney’s Acolyte series.
  • Delay a payment on a utility bill 🫢so it can be covered by the next-next-paycheck.
  • Stop one business subscription and put another on hold. Stopping the one was okay because I was kind of lax on it. The other subscription, I will be fine until I can take it off hold, but it’s useful to have.
  • Delay spending for the holidays. It means my tree will sit naked for 2 more weeks.
  • I also robbed my sinking funds of a monthly transfer. Making me behind. Will I catch it up?
  • Reduced my buffer amount, grocery and pet budget (but the amount is still adequate). At the same time, my buffer amounts from last paycheck are giving me extra room with next payday’s budget.

But you know what? All of the above is a temporary inconvenience to me. I did it to myself and I will get through it. I have the basics and my bills covered so it is all good. The buffer category in my paycheck budget was also my saving grace.
